Britain's supercar maker Aston Martin has finally unveiled the drop-top version of its N400 V8 Vantage special edition. The new limited edition Roadster was unveiled at the LA show this week. The V8 Vantage N400 Roadster was actually announced at the same time as its N400 coupe sibling at the Frankfurt show in September, but Aston Martin has waited until the Golden State's show to properly introduce the car. Like its coupe relative the N400 Roadster commemorates Aston Martin's achievements in the ADAC 24-hour race with its V8 Vantage N24 production race car.
Befitting of its special edition status the N400 Roadster comes with a number of enhancements over the standard car. Power for the 4.3-litre V8 engine is increased to 400bhp (from 380bhp), it certain to sound fantastic with that roof down. In addition to the boosted power a Sports Pack changes the dynamic set-up with new springs and dampers for a more focussed drive. Inside, the N400 Roadster gets perforated black leather seats, a Nurburgring graphic on the console between the seats and a numbered plaque. The N400 also adds usually optional equipment like satnav, Aston's premium audio kit, Bluetooth telephone preparation and high-intensity headlamps to the package. Exterior changes include revised grilles, new side-sill styling and clear rear lamp lenses. Those not liking the retina-straining Karussell Orange of the show car will no doubt be pleased to hear that black and silver are also available.
Prices have yet to be revealed, but the rumour is that Aston Martin will only be building 240 examples of the N400 Roadster. So if you've not already got your name down, it's unlikely you'll get one.
